Integrated Navigation and Communication Service for LEO Satellites Based on BDS-3 Global Short Message Communication

Massive global Low Earth Orbit (LEO) constellations have been developed rapidly with the characteristics of larger number and shorter orbital periods LEO satellites in recent years. The increasing requirements real-time orbit determination emergency data transfer full arc can hardly meet traditional strategies based on regional ground stations. An integrated communication navigation service architecture third phase BeiDou system (BDS-3) Global Short Message Communication (GSMC) is proposed, which enables coverage random access. GSMC downlink single-frequency signal used for determination, further combined B1C dual-frequency high-precision determination. Considering fast moving short burst uplink messages, BDS-3 satellite selection strategy carrier-to-noise ratio, compensation frequency shift are adopted to increase success rate. proposed improve precision autonomous enhance capability command transmission even without stations involved. Integrated has validated by simulation on-board test data. reach 2.86m, 0.26m. average time delay about 11.45s, rate 99.8%. method may provide alternative means satellites.
